Amul is proud to celebrate the achievements of two of India’s tennis legends, Leander Paes and Vijay Amritraj, who have been inducted into the prestigious International Tennis Hall of Fame.
Leander Paes is the first Asian man and the first Indian to be nominated for the International Tennis Hall of Fame in the player category. Paes has won 18 major titles, including 8 in doubles and 10 in mixed doubles. He is tied with his former partner, Hall of Famer Martina Navratilova, for the most mixed doubles major titles in history.
Vijay Amritraj, a former top-level tennis player and a popular commentator and analyst, is nominated in the contributor category. He is known for his contributions to the tennis ecosystem around the world, as well as his humanitarian work through the Vijay Amritraj Foundation.
Both Paes and Amritraj have broken ground as the first Indian inductees into the Hall of Fame, and have inspired generations of tennis players and fans in India and beyond.
On July 20, 2024, in Newport, Rhode Island, they will be formally inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in a ceremony.
